The only thing you could try maybe is to zoom out as much as possible so it won’t be that far.
I remember when we had the Facebook community, some people (included me) requested a way to send an event to another artboard via dropdown menu, maybe that could be a solution, but I don’t think there’s any shortcuts at the moment.

Yeah, Select the layer, zoom out, then add the event.
